SweetSense, a startup company based in America and partially owned by Portland State University, has announced plans to install more than 200 sensors in water pumps that serve 60,000 Rwandans in rural areas to better monitor the pumps’ effectiveness, reports Sustainable Business Oregon.
“The unfortunate reality is that as many as half of the water pumps in low-income countries fail within the first couple years,” said Evan Thomas, SweetSense CEO.
